For Individual Fee Based Search Engine Listings:

Yahoo
Yahoo is the oldest directory on the web, launched in 1994. It made a giant shift to using the Google crawler-based listings in October, 2002, to organize web sites into categories, but it is still a separate force even though it is powered by Google because Yahoo enhances listings with information from its own directory. Yahoo offers Category links that lead to a list of sites that have been reviewed and approved by a human editor. It purchased the Inktomi in April 2003, so Inktomi search results may appear at Yahoo. Being listed in the Yahoo directory may help your ranking in Google, which may in turn help you in Yahoo itself. You can view the Yahoo directory at: http://dir.yahoo.com. Yahoo has two submission options: Standard, (free - but do not submit commercial sites), and Yahoo Express with is (fee-based). However, Yahoo does not accept Standard, free, submission for commercial sites.

Yahoo guarantees that within seven business days a member of the Yahoo editorial staff will look at your site and consider it for inclusion in the Yahoo directory. Payment does not automatically guarantee inclusion in the directory, site placement, or site commentary. Final judgement remains solely with Yahoo editors. The fee for this was $299 but check for price changes.

You can see if you are listed on a Yahoo directory by going to Yahoo and enteringr your domanin name in the Search field, then, under the field that displays your URL, click on Directory. You domain name will appear in a directory if your are listed. If you are not, a message will appear that says – We did not find any Directory pages containing yourdomain.com - . http://add.yahoo.com/fast/add?+Business

Inktomi is an important crawler-based search engine because it provides backup results to the popular MSN Search. It was also recently purchased y Yahoo, so it may be providing results to Yahoo in the near future. Since it is a crawler based engine, building links is the best way to get listed for free. However, Inktomi has no free Add URL page. However, if you have links pointing at your site, you may get included naturally. What if you are not picked up for free? submit via one of their partners. Inktomi pas a paid inclusion program that will guarantee to add the pages you submit within two days and continue to revisit it on a regular basis for a year.
